Instructions on how to Subscribe to and Unsubscribe from a Mailing List

To subscribe to a desired mailing list, simply send email to info@njin.net. In the body of the email, the syntax for subscribtion to a mailing list is as follows:

subscribe listname

For example, if you wished to subscribe to the EATF list, you would simply type:
subscribe eatf

That's all there is to it! You'll receive back an email which will echo your request to subscribe to a mailing list, and will also indicate that the mailing list owner must give you approval to add your email to the mailing list. If the list owner approves, you'll soon be receiving email that pertains directly to the mailing list.

In the event you wish to unsubscribe, the procedure is very similar to that of subscription. Simply send email to info@njin.net and use the following general syntax:

unsubscribe listname

For example, if you wish to unsubscribe from the EATF list, you would simply type:
unsubscribe eatf

You will receive an email which will say that your request has been sent to the owner of the mailing list for approval. If the list owner approves, you will be unsubscribed from the mailing list.

For Majordomo List-Owners Only

It is possible to add or remove people from mailing lists without the assistance of Pilot Staff. To add individuals to a particular mailing list, send mail to info@njin.net, and in the body, the general syntax is as follows:
approve password subscribe listname address

Replace "password" with the list's administrative password; replace "listname" with the list's name (e.g., eatf); replace "address" with the Internet address of the individual you wish to subscribe. Please note that the address should be the full email address and not just the username:

username@email.njin.net

instead of just
username

The process to unsubscribe individuals from mailing lists is similar to that of subscription. Simply send:
approve password unsubscribe listname address

in the body of a message sent to info@njin.net. Replace "password" with the list's administrative password; replace "listname" with the list's name (e.g., eatf); replace "address" with the Internet address of the individual you wish to unsubscribe.

Make sure you get the address exactly right. If there are comments after the address on your list, for example:
johninfo@njin.net (John Smith)

you must include those as well, exactly as they appear on the "who" list, for the unsubscribe request to succeed.

If, at any time, you wish to see who is on any particular list, you can send email to info@njin.net with the following in the body of the message:

who listname

You will receive back an email from majordomo with a list of all addresses on the listname which you specified.
