Pilot System Announcements
What follows is a list of upcoming and past announcements about scheduled maintanance, downtime, and system changes. Please refer to this page regularly for information about work being done on the PILOT system that may affect you.
June 2000
A notification was sent out to all Pilot users on June 19-20, 2000 as a reminder that NJIN modem dial-up service will be discontinued on June 30 at 9 am.
December 1999
NJIN dial-up service will be discontinued at the end of June 2000. Please see this letter to institutional representatives for more information.There will be system maintenance starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14th. Some services may be unavailable for a short period of time.
There will be system maintenance starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21st. Some services may be unavailable for a short period of time.
The NJIN offices will be closed from December 24, 1999 to January 2, 2000. All inquiries or requests for assistance received during this period of time will be dealt with upon our return on January 3, 2000.
June 1999
There will be system downtime on Friday, June 4th starting at 8 a.m. All services will be unavailable for a short period of time.
March 1999
There will be system downtime on Tuesday, March 30, 1999 starting at 5 p.m.. Some services may be unavailable for part of the evening.On April 1, 1999, the NJIN modems will be undergoing maintenance. The modems in Camden will be unavailable for most of the day. The modems in New Brunswick will be unavailable periodically throughout the day. The modems in Newark will be unaffected.
February 1999
There will be system downtime from Tuesday, February 2nd at 9 p.m. until Wednesday, February 3rd at 8 a.m. Some services may be unavailable during this period of time. Please plan accordingly.
December 1998
The NJIN offices will be closed from December 24th through January 3rd. Any inquiries will be answered as soon as possible after we return on January 4th. Happy Holidays!!!There will be extended system downtime on Monday, December 28th starting at 9 a.m. You should expect all services to be unavailable at least some time during the day. Please plan accordingly.
October 1998
There will be system downtime Tuesday, October 6th at approximately 5 p.m. Some services may be unavailable or only partially available for a short period of time on Tuesday evening.September 1998
The NJIN modems in New Brunswick will be undergoing maintenance on Thursday, September 3 at 10 a.m. Modem access may be unavailable for a short period of time.July 1998

May 1998
The old PILOT server (manufactured in 1991) has been replaced by a newer and faster system. The new system is running a different operating system than the old one, so let us know if you have any problems.Because of recent attacks on our servers from spammers, we've been forced to make some changes in the configuration of our mail server. If you are having trouble sending email, please refer to /internet/email.html.
FTP service on pilot.njin.net has been disabled. All users should now ftp to ftp.njin.net.
