Teaching with Technology in Higher Education Conference
Stevens Institute of Technology
September 18, 1996, 9 AM - 4 PM
On September 18, the Educational Activities Task Force of NJIN will present
a conference called "Teaching with Technology in Higher Education" at
Stevens Institute of Technology. This conference is intended for faculty at
NJIN member institutions who are interested in learning how their peers have
incorporated the use of various technologies into their courses. Staff,
administrators, and other individuals are also welcome to attend. The
emphasis will be on how to get started and will provide examples of
successful projects. One session will address options and strategies for
faculty members whose schools are still working toward full implementation
of computing and network facilities on their campuses.
Presentations will be made by faculty representing a variety of disciplines
and institutions of higher education. Attendees can select from several
presentations throughout the day. There will be some hands-on lab sessions,
so faculty can experience new ways of teaching and learning.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Erwin Boschmann, Professor of Chemistry at
Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis since 1968. For the last
8 years he has served as the Associate Dean of the Faculties with
responsibility for the professional development of 1,400 faculty members, as
well as 800 part-time faculty. In this capacity, he has worked on
initiation of the use of technology which has been a major mission of the
university since 1988. He is the editor of the Electronic Classroom,
published by Learned Information, Inc. in 1995.
Registration fee is $25 for NJIN
Members and $150 for non-members. Please contact Kraig
Roajphlastien for additional information.
