Interactive Television (ITV) Faculty Development Workshops

NJIN is pleased to announce that it will offer a two-day ITV faculty development workshop in January 2000. The workshop will have space for 16 participants.

The workshop's being funded by a grant from the Bell Atlantic Foundation.

The individuals attending the faculty workshop will be divided into two groups, working simultaneously in two connected video classrooms. This arrangement will allow each faculty group to gain practical, "hands-on" experience in the fundamentals of interactive video course development and transmission.

2) Textbook
3) Packet of resource materials

Ms. Spaldo has considerable experience in the field of interactive video. She has taught on ITV since 1990 and has been training faculty at FDU in all aspects of ITV since 1994. She is currently Director of Educational Technology and a member of the teaching faculty at FDU. As a distance learning consultant, Ms. Spaldo has also conducted faculty development workshops to higher education faculty and secondary school instructors in New Jersey and in other states.

1. Individuals must be members of the faculty of an NJIN member institution.
2. Participants must make a commitment, with support from their institutions, to teach an ITV course during the Spring or Summer of the year 2000. Courses planned for Fall 2000 will be considered in exceptional cases.
3. Participating institutions must agree to release participating faculty from classes and other obligations for the two days of the workshop.
4. In an effort to include faculty from as many colleges and universities as possible, it may be necessary for NJIN to limit the number of participants from each institution.
