This workshop will utilize Microsoft FrontPage 98 as a development
environment for advanced Web design. Making heavy use of demonstrations
and hands-on practice, the objective of this workshop is to impart
practical skills to students wishing to enhance their institutions'
Web sites. A good working knowledge of HTML and Web servers is recommended.
Beginning with a review of the basics of the FrontPage 98 authoring
environment, this workshop will move quickly to cover development
tools for the generation and maintenance of interactive Web content
using FrontPage 98. In the first half of the workshop, students will
become familiar with the fundamentals of JavaScript for client-side
scripting and the use of Active Server Pages on servers with FrontPage
98 server extensions. In the second half of the workshop, students
will learn about ODBC connectivity for dynamic database driven web
sites. We will focus on using Access 97 with FrontPage 98 to update
web pages "on the fly". The workshop will conclude by presenting
advanced development options using the SDK for FrontPage 98 and introduce
students to the Visual InterDev environment.
